Only when you are successful with the application for scholarship, then you'll be invited to apply for admission.

You need a bachelor's to, apply for a master's. And then the second criteria is that you do not already have a master's degree. So if you already have a master's degree, you are not eligible. And then you have to be 35 years or younger at the time of application. The next criteria is that you have to be a citizen or a refugee of a sub Sahara African country.

The good thing is that most of my audience are eligible like those in Nigeria, as well as in Ghana.

you can see Kenya is also there. So just check through this list and let me know in the comment section, if you can find your country on this list, or if you cannot find your country, also let me know comments where you're watching from so that the next opportunity I'll make sure that you are eligible to apply.

The final criteria is that you have to be applying to a master's degree in one of the eligible programs listed below. So there are programs that are eligible and let's take a look at the programs right away. So if you come right here, you have to decide on one of the following programs. The very first one you can see right here, master, in the faculty of land and food systems.

So there's a master. Of food and resource economics and there is master of food science and there's master of land and water systems. We also have a master of sustainable forest management. We have master of international, forestry master of, geomatics for environmental management, master of science, master of applied Science in forestry.

So you have to consult this link to check out the minimum academic requirements and international credentials for graduate students. So check out this link on your own to make sure you meet the requirements.

The requirement for graduate studies in this particular university. If your bachelor's was taught in English, as you can see right here, you are eligible. You don't have to take any form of English test.

Taught in English then make arrangement to complete an English proficiency exam. So you can take a ELA TOEFL or IES. So you can also check out the UBC English requirement right here. But if your English, if your first degree, your bachelors was in English. I think you are good to go. And once you get back from the scholarship, you can then apply for admission. We are going to take a look at the documents you need to submit for the scholarship just in a moment.

But before that, you can see the selection criteria right here or what they are looking at for. So they have not specifically stated that you need to have a particular CGPA. However, academic merit is important. So, they look at academic merit for the candidate that qualifies for admission to the program of choice.

And they also look at the track record as a transformative leader and service within their community. So this is why I always emphasize that you should be involved in a form of community service. Maybe you have a particular course. It can be climate, it can be, food security, you can have, an NGO, non profit where you enlighten people about food security or you're doing something for your community.

So it is very, it's a key to winning a scholarship when you involve in form of, service, community service. And it is even, better when this community service is linked with the program that you are applying to. So they also look at the quality of application in line with the program theme.

And then they also look at a potential impact on development of the applicant's home country. So this would help you to guide your application and also your personal statement or letter of motivation. So you can see the last one, right? Say applicants who have faced significant barrier to education, social, financial, personal, practical, or health related.

So they have, they also consider those kinds of applicants more. So the good news is that It is not just one of these, but they are going to look at each of this. So you can have more points on a particular, criteria and less points on another one. So for example, if you don't have a very good academic merit or CGPA, your track record on leadership and community service can cover for that or

any other criteria right here. You must know that the deadline to apply to this scholarship is 31st of October. So put in your application as soon as possible. This is very urgent. So the second document you need to submit is your CV or what they call resume. The next document is to provide two reference letters on official letterhead. So this, reference letters Could be from your past lecturers or your supervisors. I always encourage you to use someone with a very high profile.

Maybe a professor, but if you don't have a professor, you can use a doctor. Then, this letter should be attached to your application. You don't have to send them by email. So you have to get the hard copies or scanned copies and upload them by yourself. While applying for the scholarship and then you have to upload your transcript as well So you can see these are just four documents that you need to start with and I believe you can get these documents easily just the reference letter you might have to contact your Past lecturers, but for every other thing it is good to go So once you are ready, you have to apply click on the apply button right here So guys, you can see the fourth step Once your mastercard foundation scholars program application is complete eligible Applicants will receive email with instructions to submit an online application to mastercard UBC.
